Nepean, ON – November 9, 2022 – The Nepean Sports Wall of Fame has been selected as a recipient of a micro-grant from Association Communautés Francophone D’Ottawa / Association of francophone communities of Ottawa (ACFO). As a federal initiative, the Official Language Support Program is funding this project as part of their overall goal of enhancing the vitality of minority English- and French- speaking communities in Canada.
This funding will be used to translate the Nepean Sports Wall of Fame’s existing website and information kiosk content into French, allowing users to access the website and kiosk in both languages.
“As a result of this grant, we’re able to significantly improve the service we provide francophone audiences with a bilingual website, as well as the Wall of Fame display and kiosk,” said chair David Rattray. “We are extremely grateful to the Association of francophone communities of Ottawa and Government of Canada for their support.”
The Bilingual Ottawa micro-grant program was created following the official recognition of the City of Ottawa’s bilingual character in 2017, after years of citizen and organizational engagement.
About the Nepean Sports Wall of Fame
The Nepean Sports Wall of Fame was established in 1985 by the Nepean Chamber of Commerce to recognize attained excellence and athletic achievement by Nepean athletes, teams, builders, and media at the national and international levels of competition. The Nepean Sports Wall of Fame currently consists of 82 inductees representing 27 different sports. All inductees’ plaques are displayed on the physical Wall of Fame, located in the Nepean Sportsplex lobby.
