Tina Takahashi

Tina was the Canadian champion eight times and in 1988 became Canada’s first women’s Olympic judo coach.

As an athlete, Tina was the first Canadian to win gold in international judo at the 1984 World University Games. She also won silver at the 1980 Pan-Am Games and a bronze at the 1982, 1984, 1985 and 1990 Pan-Ams.

She was also the first Canadian women to achieve the rank of roku-dan.

Tina was a coach with the national team at the 1988 Olympics, the 1986 and 1987 World Championships, the 1987 Pan-Am Games, the 1989 Francophone Games and at the Fukuoka International Women’s Championship three times
