Gord Wilson

The voice we have heard on the radio since the very beginning of the Ottawa Senators has deep roots in Nepean.

As a teenager, in fact, Gord Wilson drove the Zamboni at the Nepean Sportsplex.

Wilson was born in Montreal and moved to Ottawa when he was six and attended J.S. Woodsworth High School in Nepean. After high school, Wilson attended Algonquin College’s radio broadcasting program.

His first radio gig was with the CKOB in Renfrew and he moved back to Ottawa to work with CFRA, where he served as a sportscaster and sideline reporter during Ottawa Rough Riders games.

Wilson was in West Palm Beach, Fla., working as a reporter, when the NHL announced in 1990 that the Senators were returning to Ottawa.

From Day One of the franchise, Wilson has worked as a colour commentator for Senators broadcasts on CFRA, Team 1200 (later TSN 1200) and Sens TV.
