Gavin Leishman

A passionate supporter of Nepean sports at all levels, Gavin Leishman spent more than four decades tirelessly promoting the efforts of the city’s top athletes.

In the early 90s, Leishman became involved in the Nepean Chamber of Commerce and became chair in 2004.

In 2015, Leishman was passionate about bringing the Nepean Sports Wall of Fame back into the limelight and to introduce more inductees. Through his efforts, the Wall has grown into a centerpiece at the Nepean Sportsplex, championing the triumphs of Nepean’s best across the province, country and internationally.

In Leishman’s 36 years volunteering with the Board of the Nepean Sports Wall of Fame, he saw 82 inductees included into their place of honour as of 2022.

Leishman is past owner and general manager of the CCHL’s Nepean Raiders and Pembroke Lumber Kings.

Leishman has always believed in supporting the community and along with his involvement in the Greater Nepean Chamber of Commerce, he committed endless hours to volunteering with the Queensway Carleton Hospital, Scouts Canada and Children at Risk.

Leishman was awarded the City of Ottawa’s Senior of the Year award in 2012 for his outstanding contributions to the enrichment of the social, cultural and civic life of his community.
