Fred Brathwaite

Undrafted into the National Hockey League, Fred was signed by the Edmonton Oilers in 1993 and went on to play 254 NHL games with Edmonton, Calgary, St. Louis and Columbus.

During the course of his 19-year professional career as a goaltender, he also played in Russia and Germany and represented Canada at three world championships and one Spengler Cup tournament.

As a member of the Manitoba Moose of the International Hockey League, Fred also accomplished the rare goaltending feat of scoring a goal.

He has worked as an NHL goaltending coach for NHL teams and served as a goaltending consultant for Hockey Canada.

As a 48-year-old, Brathwaite also made headlines by dressing as a back-up for the American Hockey League's Henderson Silver Kings in 2021.
