Debbie Huband

A 1984 Olympian and co-captain of the Women’s National Basketball Team 1978-1986. Debbie was a graduate of Bishops and UBC and captured three U Sports championships.

In the 1984 Summer Olympics, she was starting point guard and captain of the Canadian Squad that earned a fourth-place finish in Los Angeles. Debbie was also starting point guard in the 1979 and 1986 World Championships.

Huband was a three-time U SPORTS All-Canadian and was inducted into the Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame in 1994, and the Basketball BC Hall of Fame in 2017.

Huband’s single-game career high of 50 points during the 1981-82 season with Bishop’s University tied her for the unofficial U SPORTS record until it was surpassed in 2019.
