David Rattray

For more than four decades, David Rattray has lent his time and his considerable accounting, management and invaluable social skills to enhance and celebrate Nepean athletes.

Rattray was pivotal in putting a modern stamp on the Nepean Sports Wall of Fame, serving as Chair of the Board for a reorganized and revitalized digital wall from 2022 to2024. Rattray, who originally joined a revamped board in 2018, was instrumental in securing fundraising and in driving a stronger social media presence. Although no longer on the board, Rattray remains involved as Past Chair.

A lifelong champion for volunteerism, Rattray's contributions to Nepean sport date back more than 40 years, including coaching T-ball, soccer, hockey and softball teams. In the 1980s, he served as president of the Barrhaven Soccer Club, which has since morphed into Ottawa South United.

Rattray, who has spent most of his life in Nepean, has served on the boards of numerous sports and community organizations, including as a director with the Canadian Paralympic Committee and the Ottawa Senators Foundation. He has been on the board for CHE0 and the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation. In 2005, he received the “Best of Barrhaven Community Outstanding Achievement Award,” and in 2009, he was named Community Citizen of the Year by the Nepean Chamber of Commerce. Rattray’s dedication to Scouting has earned him numerous national and international honours. He is also a recipient of the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers, the Canada 125 Medal, the Queen’s Golden and Diamond Jubilee Medals, and the King Charles III Coronation Medal. He has also been awarded the prestigious Order of Ottawa.
