Ada Chan

At the 2003 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Dublin Ireland, Ada Chan competed in the Level 3 Rhythmic Gymnastics Division A, capturing five medals, including one gold, two silver and two bronze.

The gold came in the ball competition.

Chan moved to Canada in 1997 and attended schools in Nepean while competing for the Special Olympics Ottawa Rhythmic Cats from 1998 to 2006. She went to Sir Guy Carleton High School and was in the Adaptive Learning Program at Algonquin College.

In 2001, Special Olympics Ontario voted to make Rhythmic Gymnastics an official sport. Selected to compete in the 2002 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games, Chan was the all-around gold medal champion in the Level 3 competition.

Although Chan ceased to compete in 2006, she became a mentor with the Ottawa Rhythmic Cats. choreographing new routines and helping her teammates master new techniques.

Now living in Toronto, Chan remains involved with the Ottawa Rhythmic Cats as an online mentor to her fellow teammates in their virtual practices.
