12 new local sports standouts inducted on October 26, 2023 

The diverse group of 12 honorees, which includes some of Nepean’s most accomplished athletes and community builders, received official recognition during a ceremony at the Nepean Sportsplex.

Among the seven exceptional athletes are Lisa Weagle (curling), Henry McKay (diving), Erika Hoffmann (race car driving), Kaitlyn Youldon (ringette), Ada Chan (rhythmic gymnastics), and the 2022 Nepean Knights Junior B lacrosse squad. Additionally, Coach Fernando Henderson (diving) was honored for his contributions in bringing international attention to the Nepean Ottawa Diving Club.

The Wall of Fame also extended its recognition to five outstanding builders: Gavin Leishman (former board chair and Nepean Raiders owner), Agnes Laing (founder of the gymnastics club), Karen Butcher (figure skating guru), and Richard Fleming (rugby supporter).

In the media category, Gord Wilson, the radio colour commentator for the Ottawa Senators, was inducted into the Wall of Fame.
